My name is April Del Rio and this is my second year at Westwood Middle School. I started here in January 2010 after working at Pinewood Elementary for two years. I have worked with the Polk County School Board for about three years now. I have a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from the University of South Florida and I am currently working on a second degree in English Literature.
I am married and have one little boy, JD, who is three. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, listening to music, and spending time with my son. I also do volunteer work when I can.
I believe that reading can take you anywhere and that you'll never be lonely as long as you have a great book to keep you company. I do like to have fun with my classes whenever I can but I do think that hard work is necessary to prepare for life in the real world. This is the reason that I hold my students to high expectations and assign homework in all of my classes.
